GENEROSITY REIGNS!
We are thankful to all of you who donated coats and shoes to be sent to Kevin Flynn in Afghanistan.  Ten large
boxes were shipped from Club members and Kevin has assured us that each item was gratefully received and put to
immediate use.

More warmth was displayed by our members who ensured that 24 extremely needy Rogue Valley families had a
good holiday - warm clothes, shoes, and toys were chosen by many of you; others donated money for the shopping
elves.

Thank you so very much.

NEW AWNING
Hooray!   At last we have our "real" name on the awning at our entrance.  Thanks to Darlene and Deluxe Awning for
creating the beautiful, welcoming sign and for financing the project.

PERSONNEL CHANGE
We are very happy for Victoria Nylund who has accepted a job in her career field of graphic arts.  Victoria has done
a fabulous job as bookkeeper/office manager since April.  While we will miss her excellent work ethic and warm
smile, we know that she will blossom professionally in her new position.

Please welcome Victoria's replacement, Leslie Gore.  Leslie comes to us with a lot of relevant experience; we are
confident that she will be a great fit here at ATFC.  There's a lot to learn in this important position at the Club, so
please be patient with
Leslie!

WOMEN’S LOCKER ROOM
Hooray!  We're getting new carpet!  Thanks to our auction we will be able to make this purchase.  Installation will be
on Saturday, January 23, so the locker room won't be available at least until the late afternoon that day.  We
apologize for this inconvenience but don't want to wait until the Club's annual closing in
August to make this much-needed improvement.

THANK YOU
Thanks to Tom Kennedy for providing the  beautiful Giving Tree.
Thanks to Blackstone Audio for donating many books on tape for the holiday packages for the troops.

MS. MARTINA MANNERSTILOVA
Dearest MMM:
In December I became the youngest Duck ever to graduate from U of O.  Over the holidays I asked my mom if
she'd be my partner in this event at our club called the Century Tournament - she started to tear up - with
happiness, I thought.  Then she ran into her room and hasn't come out since.  What gives?
     -Still have my baby feathers

Dear Baby Duck:
Okay, Ms. Martina LOVES the idea that you'd like to play tennis with your mom; where you went wrong is in the
choice of tournament. Might it be true that your mother hasn't yet had her 85th birthday?
Here's an approach that ATFC members looking for partners might use:  "Drat, Edna, I would so love to play with
you in the Century Tournament but there's no way you're old enough!"    Edna might well respond:  "Oh, my.  I'm
probably older than you think I am.  You might be fooled by my 93mph serve and agility on the court, but Wilson was
actually President when I was born. (No, he didn't invent the tennis ball.) Tell me how old YOU are and we can figure
out if we can play together."  And I'd like to remind all you wonderful people at Ashland Tennis & Fitness that the
Century Tournament is a total blast!   It's a terrific chance to play with someone new.  If you'd like partner ideas,
please check with Leo, Jo, or Alan.

Much love to you all in this new year.   -MMM
