ATFC JUNIOR ACTIVITIES
Summer Junior Program at ATFC - This year's summer program will run for 10 weeks from Monday June 15th thru
Thursday August 20th. Important changes include the days of week and time of day for Polar Bears and Grizzlies -
and that you can pay for the weeks of attendance rather than the entire program. Polar Bears and Grizzlies will
meet on Mondays (3:30 to 5:00p and Wednesdays (4:00 to 5:00p). Koalas and Pandas will stay on the same
schedule as before - Tuesdays and Thursdays with Koalas 3:30 to 4:15 PM and Pandas from 4:15 to 5:00p.
Champs and Challengers - Andy Cochrane is running this new program at ATFC. Its goal is to offer juniors who
aspire to be high performers a rigorous opportunity to improve. Access to the program is dependent on current
ability level, commitment and a desire to work hard. Areas of focus include stroke production, technique, footwork
and conditioning. If you would like to learn more please contact Andy 944-4149.
Parks and Rec Summer Tennis - ATFC will again operate the city's junior tennis program at Hunter Park. Shelley

MS MARTINA MANNERSTILOVA
Dear MMM - I am a little shy about thanking club members who have pledged $ towards a new ball machine. What
would you do? Signed, Wallflower
Dear Wallflower - Well, this may surprise you, but Ms. Martina is actually quite shy, too. I have to use many
breathing and self-talk techniques before I appear on the telly. So, go to a few yoga classes and then you will have
the confidence to boldly approach your friends who have pledged more than 2/3 of the money needed for a new
ball machine for your wonderful Club: Just say it out loud: " Thank you!! Thank you!! We only need $1000
more in pledges to get a great new, reliable machine! I appreciate you!! May I buy you a cup of Noble
coffee?"
And Ms. Martina would personally like to thank the members who have pledged as they represent "the true meaning
of tennis." I will try to come to the Big Al's Barbecue to meet you all. Cousin Arnold Schwarzenmanners is having a
bit of a struggle with his government job right now so he probably
cannot join me.
Much Love, MMM
NEW MEMBERS
Please give a warm welcome to our newest ATFC
members: Rich & Pam Larsen, Joel Leskowitz, and Paula Backus.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Jeff Laskos and his partner, Chas Bernard, who made it to the finals of the Consolation Round in
Portland at the end of May. Great playing!
USTA ADULT SEASON RESULTS
ATFC fielded seven teams during the Spring Season, two of which have advanced to playoffs: Women's 3.0 and
Men's 4.0. Playoffs will be held the weekend of May 30-31st in Eugene. While the other teams didn't advance, they
surely had a lot of fun and had some most interesting road trips, too! Thanks to all the captains and team members.
PERSONNEL CHANGE
After many years of service at ATFC and ARC, Lani Graven has resigned in order to focus more on other
professional commitments. Thanks, Lani, for all your support for the Club!
SUMMER MEMBERSHIPS
We will once again be offering summer memberships in all categories. People may join for June, July, & August and
pay no initiation fee, but they must pay in advance for the three months. Should they decide to continue their
