SUPER SATURDAY AUCTION
Auction Results: Super Saturday was a huge success on many fronts. Financially, we netted more than $26,000
from auction items, dinner tickets, and raffle tickets; the event itself was a lot of fun with excellent food, festive
decorations, fabulous auction items, and more than 200 happy people; and, finally, Super Saturday was a wonderful
community-building experience. The positive outcome was the result of many people working hard for six months and
we owe thanks to all of them; the real super-heroine of the gala, however, is Tilly Gibbs. Tilly spent literally hundreds
of hours on tasks big and small, ensuring that every “t” was crossed and “I” dotted and was an inspiring leader of the
Auction Committee. If you haven't already done so, please take a moment to thank her personally.
MANAGERS’ ANNOUNCEMENT
We have informed the Board of Directors of our plan to leave our managerial position at the Club come late Spring.
Our time at the helm has been satisfying and fun for us both - we have especially appreciated getting to know so
many of you. We will long have smiles on our faces recalling your warmth and support, as well as some of our
humorous experiences! Thank you. While we will be involved in other professional endeavors (Alan will be working
as a Financial Planner and Jo is expanding her psychotherapy practice), we plan to continue to participate actively in
the ATFC community.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jo and Alan, our club managers for 2 years, have decided that it is time for them to move on to other endeavors, and
will be leaving in June. Surely all the members of ATFC join the Board in appreciation for the wonderful job they have
done to put our club on a stable footing. We are especially grateful for their commitment to enhancing the strong
sense of community that makes ATFC a unique place. We will miss them as managers and be glad to retain them as
tennis partners - and friends.
The Board has appointed a search committee. led by Charlie Hamilton, to find a new manager for the Club. The
committee will advertise the position beginning March 1, with the goal of completing the interview process and having
a new manager in place in June. The new manager will work with Jo and Alan for about a month for a smooth
transition.
MARCH MADNESS PROMOTIONS
March Madness Promotions: We have 2 special offers for potential fitness members this month: for fitness
members signing a 12-month contract, the initiation fee will be waived. Alternatively, fitness members who join in
March may do so for 1/2 off initiation fee. Please pass this information on to your friends for whom this might be just
the right incentive to join ATFC.

BRIDGE
Please let Jo know if you’d like your name to be added to the Monday bridge list. We play 3 –5p. Thanks to Bruce
Taylor for his weekly organizing!
ART WALL
One idea that came up this fall while planning the auction was an Art Wall at the Club. Many ATFC'ers have
downsized and may have artwork for which they simply no longer have room. A member could bring in art which
he/she is no longer using, set a price, and have it displayed for up to 3 weeks at the Club. If sold, the member would
get 50% of the proceeds and ATFC would receive the other 50%; if not sold, the member would take it back.
Does this intrigue you? It would be great if we had a volunteer to explore this concept, assess the level of interest,
and, if warranted, take on the organizing of a pilot project. If anyone is interested, please see Jo.
MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Let’s give a cheer for Darlene Beckett who consistently steps to the plate when she sees a need! Camouflaging the
crack in the upstairs mirror, repairing fitness machine upholstery, researching and securing hoop-making materials—
she does it all. Thank you!!
ST. PATRICKS DAY
Wear green on March 17th and get at free coffee!
MS. MARTINA MANNERSTILOVA
Dear MMM:
I have an idea for a screenplay and wonder if you might get your cousin Arnold Schwarzenmanners to look at my
script. The setting is a really nice little fitness club which also has 4 indoor tennis courts. There's a little bit of a
Cinderella plot with a gorgeous fitness director and a handsome tennis director, but they are just friends. The real
heroine is the laundry person and the villain is a mysterious little creature who really likes towels. What do you
think?? I could see either Clint or Martin directing.
Signed, Eager to hear from you but I can't tell you my name because everyone here will ask me to write them into the
script.
Dear Eager: You are very wise not to reveal your name (especially given the quality of your story-line...). While I
usually have a quick and brilliant response to the questions my followers ask, I am a little stymied here. Where could
the towels be going? People, could you please look in your cars, hampers, and gym bags? My reputation is at stake.
Lovingly, MMM
