Wars, hatred and death slowly, but relentlessly, change the lives of all in an ever growing circle of people. Tears vie with laughter as each new adversity unfolds. Herman will do a reading and answer questions on Monday, 9/21 at 7 p.m. in the upstairs lounge at ATFC. It will be a fundraiser for the Club, as any profit from the sale of books will go to the Club! It's a real win-win opportunity! JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS Congratulations to the Champs who traveled wide and far this summer to play in tournaments. Will Cochrane, Quincy Briscoe, Max Burt, Hannah Greenberg, River Davis, Ashley Knecht and Grant Kahn participated. Will is now ranked #45 in section. Will & Quincy both qualified for sectionals in Portland. Thanks to Andy Cochrane for his amazing teaching and coaching of this crew! JUNIOR TENNIS We've an exciting line-up of classes this fall for all levels - from beginners to Champs - beginning on September 14. Pick up registration forms at the Front Desk. DENNIS RALSTON CAMP ROCKS Given the rave reviews of this year's camp participants, you may want to get in line now to sign up for next year's event. What a privilege it was to have this Tennis Hall-of-Famer on the ATFC courts - he is truly an outstanding teacher. Dennis was ably assisted by Ari, Andy, and Roman Boranov. Special thanks to Andy for hatching the idea and then organizing the three-day camp. Thanks to John & Kathy Schleining for hosting the Ralstons and to Rhonda for producing fabulous lunches for the campers. p.s. SAVE THE DATE: January 30, 2010 ATFC’s Fundraising Gala: SUPER SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT ON FRONT DESK VOLUNTEERS Ms. September - When Coralie Farnham moved from Australia to the Bay Area in 1963, one of the first questions she asked was, "Where are the kangaroos?" Australia's loss was certainly the United States' gain as Coralie has lived here ever since. Besides loving tennis and being a fabulous Front Desk volunteer, Coralie is a gifted seamstress, embroiderer, quilter, and knitter. She and husband, Gary - the other half of Volunteer Team Farnham - enjoy camping and this spring went to Brice, Zion, and Grand Canyon Parks. Coralie & Gary met in the E.R. at University of California at San Francisco Medical Center when Gary was an intern and Coralie a nurse. Very sweet. Her favorite job was being a hospice nurse, a career she had for ten years. If you haven't yet met Coralie, please take a moment to introduce yourself - she's at the Front Desk on Mondays. Funny, smart, and generous, Coralie is one of the reasons ATFC is such a special place! |
